Abstract

The velocity distributions near pitched blade turbine impellers with blades inclined at an angle of 45° and with different blade cross sections were determined. Then, the pumping efficiency and effectiveness of the tested impellers were calculated. The impeller with the NACA4424 profile placed with the less convex side in the direction of movement turned out to be the best. The turbulent stresses generated in the mixed liquid were too small to disintegrate microbial cells.
