The swinging phenomenon is growing in popularity. Behaviors considered by most people as infidelity, e.g. sexual contacts with someone other than their partner, are normal for the swingers community, which makes the study of how infidelity is defined and of its determinants in this group an extremely important social issue. The aim of this research was to examine whether attachment style and relationship satisfaction were associated with the judgment of infidelity in swingers and monogamists. The study involved 120 respondents, including 49 self-declared swingers, compared with an equinumerous group of people with a preference for monogamous relationships. The results showed a difference in the understanding of infidelity between the groups. The analysis also indicates that a secure attachment style is conducive to engaging in swinging and enjoying it, which is in turn linked to relationship satisfaction.
