Abstract
The article consists of the analysis of therapeutic methods that were used by the authors publishing in “Pamiętnik Lekarski Warszawski” in the years 1828–1829. Their observations were made for scientific purposes. This information allows to characterize eclectic therapeutic standard of medicine in the first 30 years of the 19th century. Case studies presented in ‘Pamiętnik’, contain descriptions of multiple therapeutic methods, both typical for that time and innovative. Somatic approach to medicine dominated Warsaw medical society. In practice, elements of Neo-Hippocratism, achievements of French anatomopathological school, Brunonian system of medicine (Brownism), Broussaism and Rasorism were present. Medical theories that authors of the publications used, and descriptions of patients in many case reports, present a picture that fits into the eclectic character of medicine of the early 19th century described in the literature.
