Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

INSTRUKCJA DLA AUTORÓW

A. Zgłoszenia tekstów

  1. W czasopiśmie publikowane są artykuły naukowe, przeglądy stanu badań, edycje tekstów źródłowych, polemiki, artykuły recenzyjne i recenzje oraz sprawozdania z wydarzeń w życiu naukowym. Drukowane są teksty oryginalne i niepublikowane, zgodne z deklarowanymi misją i celami czasopisma.
  2. Po zgłoszeniu artykułu autorzy proszeni są o złożenie oświadczenia autorskiego. Po przyjęciu do druku artykułu autorzy zobowiązani są do zawarcia umowy wydawniczej. Wzory oświadczenia i umowy znajdują się na stronie internetowej czasopisma.
  3. Zgłaszając tekst, autorzy oświadczają, że zapoznali się z zamieszczonym na stronie internetowej czasopisma opisem zasad etyki wydawniczej i pozostałych praktyk stosowanych w czasopiśmie oraz wyrażają zgodę na ich zapisy.
  4. Zgłaszając tekst, autorzy oświadczają, że zapoznali się z zamieszczoną na stronie internetowej czasopisma klauzulą dotyczącą zasad przetwarzania danych osobowych i wyrażają zgodę na jej zapisy.
  5. Redakcja zastrzega sobie prawo do wprowadzania zmian redakcyjnych przed publikacją tekstów.
  6. Teksty należy zgłaszać za pośrednictwem poczty elektronicznej na adres wskazany na stronie internetowej czasopisma. Redakcja nie przyjmuje zgłoszeń dokonanych w inny sposób i niezgodnych z zasadami niniejszej instrukcji. Redakcja nie kontaktuje się z autorami w innej formie niż elektroniczna.

B. Zasady przygotowania tekstu

  1. Teksty należy zgłaszać w formie elektronicznej w plikach .doc, .docx lub .odt.
  2. Przed tekstem należy zamieścić: imiona i nazwiska autorów wraz z afiliacjami lub miejscami zamieszkania i numerami ORCID, streszczenie w języku polskim lub angielskim (do 1500 znaków) oraz słowa kluczowe (w tym określenie zakresu w obrębie historii nauki) w języku polskim i angielskim.
    Po tekście należy zamieścić: bibliografię sporządzoną zgodnie z zasadami opisu bibliograficznego, informację o finansowaniu (jeżeli jest konieczna), podziękowania (jeżeli są konieczne) oraz informację o autorach (do 500 znaków na autora) z kontaktowymi adresami poczty elektronicznej.
    Recenzje książek i teksty okolicznościowe nie powinny zawierać dodatkowych elementów poza danymi autorów i tytułem.
  3. Przywoływane w artykule cytaty muszą być zapisane w języku artykułu (przetłumaczone staraniem autorów bądź przywołane za wydanym przekładem). W szczególnych przypadkach, gdy ma to znaczenie dla zrozumiałości wywodu, dopuszczalne jest zamieszczenie tekstu oryginalnego jako dodatku do przetłumaczonego.
  4. Cytaty powinny być ujęte w cudzysłów („”). Początku i końca cytatu nie należy zaznaczać wielokropkiem. Dłuższe cytowane fragmenty należy zapisywać w formie wciętego akapitu bez cudzysłowu. Opuszczenia w tekście należy oznaczać symbolem [...] (z wyjątkiem opuszczeń na początku i końcu cytatów).
    Do wyróżnień w środku cytatów należy stosować cudzysłów wewnętrzny («»). Wtrącenia autorskie w przywoływanych cytatach należy oznaczać nawiasami kwadratowymi, np.: [podkreślenie – A.T.].
  5. Teksty napisane innymi alfabetami niż łaciński należy zapisywać:
    • w tekście głównym – w transkrypcji,
    • w przypisach i bibliografii – w transliteracji zgodnej z regulacjami ISO lub Polską Normą.
  6. Należy stosować oryginalną pisownię imion i nazwisk, np. „Dmitrij”, nie „Dymitr”; „George”, nie „Jerzy”. Wyjątek stanowią nazwiska, które mają powszechnie przyjętą wersję polską (np. Kartezjusz), w tym imiona władców (np. Ludwik XIV).
  7. Lata i wieki należy zapisywać według wzoru: 1862 r., XIX w. Miesiące należy zapisywać:
    • w tekście głównym – słownie, np. 15 marca 1862 r.;
    • w przypisach – cyframi arabskimi, np. 15.03.1862 r.
    W nazwach dekad nie należy używać cyfr, np. „lata pięćdziesiąte” (nie: „lata 50.”). Ery należy zapisywać konsekwentnie według jednego ze wzorów: p.n.e./n.e. lub przed Chr./po Chr.
  8. Jednostki układu SI należy zapisywać symbolami.

C. Format przypisów i opisów bibliograficznych

  1. Należy stosować przypisy dolne.
  2. Opisy bibliograficzne powinny być sporządzone zgodnie z poniższymi wzorami i zasadami:
    • a. Wydawnictwa zwarte: A.C. Crombie, Nauka średniowieczna i początki nauki nowożytnej, t. 1, Nauka w średniowieczu w okresie V–XIII w., tłum. S. Łypacewicz, Warszawa 1960, s. 133–138; Księga wpisów uczniów Gimnazjum Gdańskiego 1580–1814, wyd. Z. Nowak, P. Szafran, Warszawa 1974, s. 105.
    • b. Rozdziały w pracach zbiorowych: J. Dobrzycki, Mikołaj Kopernik, [w:] Historia astronomii w Polsce, t. 1, red. E. Rybka, Wrocław 1975, s. 144–145.

  3. Przy kolejnym cytowaniu pracy należy podawać początek tytułu bez wielokropka, np.: A.C. Crombie, Nauka średniowieczna, t. 1, s. 133–138. Nie należy stosować skrótu op. cit.. Przy odwoływaniu się w następujących po sobie przypisach do tych samych autorów lub dzieł należy stosować: idem, eadem, iidem, eaedem, ibidem.
  4. W przypisach i bibliografii należy używać następujących skrótów: s.; k.; wyd.; oprac.; red.; por.; zob.; cyt. za; tłum.; r.; r. akad.; r. szk.; t.; nr; z.; cz.
  5. W bibliografii źródła i literatura przedmiotu powinny być rozdzielone.
  6. W bibliografii inicjały imion autorów powinny stać po nazwiskach; należy podawać pełne zakresy stron rozdziałów i artykułów oraz numery DOI publikacji, np.: Urbanek B., Najstarsze miejskie szpitale polskiego Wilna (do 1939 r.), „Medycyna Nowożytna. Studia nad Kulturą Medyczną” 2021, t. 27, z. 2, s. 47–63, DOI 10.4467/12311960MN.21.013.15241.

D. Ilustracje i tabele

  1. Ilustracji nie należy zamieszczać w tekście artykułu, lecz przesyłać jako osobne pliki w rozdzielczości minimum 300 dpi w formacie jpg, tif lub bmp. Nazwy plików powinny zawierać numery odnoszące się do zaznaczonych w artykule miejsc. Podpisy pod ilustracjami powinny zawierać informację o źródle lub autorze oraz znajdować się w tekście artykułu w miejscach, w których mają być zamieszczone. Nie należy przesyłać osobno wykazu ilustracji. Autorzy są zobowiązani uzyskać od właścicieli praw autorskich zgody na wykorzystanie ilustracji.
  2. Tabele należy zamieścić w tekście artykułu. Nie należy przesyłać tabel w osobnych plikach. Tabele powinny być opatrzone kolejnymi numerami i tytułami oraz informacjami o źródle lub autorze.

General Provisions

The controller of personal data is the Polish Academy of Sciences, with its registered office in Warsaw (00-901), Palace of Culture and Science, Plac Defilad 1, NIP (Tax Identification Number): 525 157 50 83, REGON (National Business Registry Number): 000325713. The processing of personal data is carried out in accordance with generally applicable regulations, and data is stored on secure servers.

The term “GDPR” refers to Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, repealing Directive 95/46/EC.

We respect the right to privacy and are committed to ensuring data security. To this end, we use secure technologies, including SSL encryption for communications. All personal data provided in website forms is treated as confidential and is not visible to unauthorized persons.

Data Controller

The Polish Academy of Sciences is the controller of personal data relating to its clients and employees. This means that if you hold an account on our website, we will process personal data such as your name, surname, email address, telephone number, job title, place of employment, and IP address. The Polish Academy of Sciences also acts as the controller for individuals subscribed to services such as newsletters.

Personal data is processed:

  • in accordance with applicable data protection legislation,
  • in line with the implemented Privacy Policy,
  • to the extent and for the purposes necessary to pursue legitimate interests, provided that such processing does not infringe the rights and freedoms of the data subject.

Every data subject for whom we act as the data controller has the right to request access their personal data, its rectification or erasure, the restriction of its processing, to object to its processing, and to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority. Personal data may be erased following the withdrawal of consent or the submission of a legally valid objection to its processing.

The Polish Academy of Sciences may disclose users’ personal data and related information to entities authorized under applicable law (e.g., law-enforcement authorities).

The Polish Academy of Sciences does not disclose personal data to any entities other than those authorized under applicable regulations. The data controller has implemented encryption and access-control mechanisms to minimize the risk and impact of any potential data breach. Personal data is processed exclusively by individuals authorized by the controller or by data processors with whom we maintain close cooperation.

Cookies

1. The website automatically collects information through the use of cookies. By not changing your browser settings, you consent to their use.

2. Cookies are small data files – specifically, text files – stored on the user’s end device and intended to facilitate the use of the website. They typically contain the name of the website they originate from, the duration of their storage on the device, and a unique identifier.

Additional personal data, such as an email address, is collected only in sections where the user has explicitly provided consent by completing a form. Such data is retained and used solely for purposes necessary to perform the specific function.

The controller does not transfer personal data to third countries or international organizations.
