Between the idea and reality: 100 years of the Catholic University of Lublin
Abstract
In every period of its existence, the Catholic University of Lublin had to play a different part. Before the Second World War, it was an important place for the education of catholic intelligentsia. In the period of the Polish People’s Republic, it was a place of scientific freedom and a symbol of resistance. Since 1989, it tries to retain its catholic identity, at the same time opening for modern models of education. The mission of the university remains the same: to educate the future catholic intelligentsia and conduct research in the spirit of faith and reason.
