About the Journal
Quarterly journal published in English by the Institute of Technology and Life Sciences - National Research Institute (ITP-PIB) and the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN). "Journal of Water and Land Development" publishes peer-reviewed, original, review and problem-oriented scientific articles in English.
The journal has been published continuously since 1997, initially as an annual (until 2011), and in 2012-2013 as a semi-annual publication. It has been a quarterly since 2014 (4 issues per year). The journal covers the following issues: agriculture, agronomy, horticulture, earth and environmental sciences, agrometeorology, climate change, hydrology, environmental engineering, water management, water quality, geology, socio-economic geography, agricultural landscape, grasslands, water ecosystems, wetlands, civil engineering and transportation, irrigation and drainage, drones, GIS, spatial management, architecture and urban planning, biological sciences, ecology, hydrobiology, microbiology, plant physiology, and mining and energy. Recently, the subject of the journal has been expanded to include issues very often undertaken by scientists around the world, e.g.: climate change, biosphere pollution (including microplastics, plant protection products), environmental monitoring using innovative technologies (GIS, drones), as well as detailed multi-aspect analyses at the cellular level of plants and animals.
In recent years, the Journal of Water and Land Development has broadened its Editorial Board to include outstanding scientists from Poland and around the world, all specialising in areas related to the journal's topics. As the scope of the journal has expanded, section editors were invited to oversee the new thematic issues introduced. The authors of articles published in recent years are affiliated with institutions in over 60 countries worldwide.
All standards and procedures used in the journal are consistent with international ones and are available on the website.
The journal is available free of charge as an electronic publication (abstract + full text) at https://www.jwld.pl/. Until the end of 2019, the primary version of the journal was the printed edition. Since 2020, the journal has been published online only.
Aim and scope
The aim of publishing the Journal of Water and Land Development is to disseminate research findings related to water, soil, and landscape, primarily agricultural landscapes, in the context of their rational use, protection, and sustainable development.
The journal publishes peer-reviewed articles in English covering issues related to water management, water quality protection, agricultural landscape use, hydrology, hydrobiology, ecology, environmental engineering, irrigation and drainage, as well as applications of GIS systems, and spatial management.
Journal of Water and Land Development is interdisciplinary, bridging the natural, technical, and social sciences, with a focus on the interactions between hydrological, soil, and ecological processes in landscapes, particularly agricultural ones. The journal targets scientists, practitioners, and policymakers who are involved in the management of water and land resources in both rural and urban areas.
The journal is a quarterly, Open Access publication issued by the Institute of Technology and Life Sciences – National Research Institute and the Polish Academy of Sciences. Published articles are available under the CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 license. For more information: www.jwld.pl.
