The aim of this study is to develop an original model for the field of digital nomadism by synthesizing the existing literature on the subject, drawing on Pierre Bourdieu’s theoretical perspective and supplemented by Immanuel Wallerstein’s world-system theory. Based on an integrative literature review (61 sources from 2010–2026), it is demonstrated that digital nomadism constitutes a form of structural privilege rather than an emancipatory practice. The study shifts the focus of analysis from individual biographies to systemic conditions of possibility, identifying four pillars of the field’s reproduction: barriers to entry, maintenance of hierarchy, monetisation, and protection of privilege. The article’s contribution lies in presenting digital nomadism as a space where global asymmetries of mobility and citizenship intersect with internal disparities in access to resources among professionals themselves. Consequently, the study demonstrates that cross-border mobility does not abolish the traditional class structure but rather fosters its new, deterritorialised reproduction.
