Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • the manuscript has not been published previously and is not under consideration by another journal;
  • the submission includes both a Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) file and a PDF version of the manuscript;
  • the manuscript follows the journal’s formatting and reference style as described in the Author Guidelines;
  • an English abstract (100–200 words) and 4–10 keywords are included; for manuscripts submitted in languages other than English, an English title is also provided;
  • all non-Latin scripts are accompanied by transliteration, where appropriate;
  • all figures and tables are placed at their approximate position within the text, and any necessary permissions for reproduced material have been obtained;
  • the author’s ORCID iD has been provided, if available;
  • DOIs or URLs have been included in the references, where available;
  • the manuscript complies with the journal's Publication Ethics policy.

Author Guidelines

Folia Orientalia publishes original research articles and book reviews in English, French and German.

Manuscripts should be submitted in both Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) and PDF format, using single spacing and preferably 11-point Charis SIL font. If non-Unicode fonts are used, the corresponding font files should be submitted together with the manuscript.

Authors are encouraged to read the journal’s Publication Ethics, Open Access Policy, and Privacy Statement before submitting their manuscripts.

All articles must include an English title, an English abstract (100–200 words), 4–10 keywords, the main text, and a bibliography (see References). For manuscripts submitted in English, the English title is identical to the article title. Please do not use capital letters in the titles of articles, chapters, or other works, and avoid unnecessary formatting. Authors are encouraged to provide their ORCID iD.

Submitted manuscripts must not have been published previously or be under consideration by another journal or publisher. All submissions must present original research.

All research articles undergo double-anonymous peer review by at least two independent reviewers.

Fees

Folia Orientalia is a diamond open access journal. No fees are charged for manuscript submission, peer review or publication.

General Provisions

The controller of personal data is the Polish Academy of Sciences, with its registered office in Warsaw (00-901), Palace of Culture and Science, Plac Defilad 1, NIP (Tax Identification Number): 525 157 50 83, REGON (National Business Registry Number): 000325713. The processing of personal data is carried out in accordance with generally applicable regulations, and data is stored on secure servers.

The term ‘GDPR’ refers to Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, repealing Directive 95/46/EC.

We respect the right to privacy and are committed to ensuring data security. To this end, we use secure technologies, including SSL encryption for communications. All personal data provided in website forms is treated as confidential and is not visible to unauthorized persons.

Data Controller

The Polish Academy of Sciences is the controller of personal data relating to its clients and employees. This means that if you hold an account on our website, we will process personal data such as your name, surname, email address, telephone number, job title, place of employment, and IP address. The Polish Academy of Sciences also acts as the controller for individuals subscribed to services such as newsletters.

Personal data is processed:

  • in accordance with applicable data protection legislation;
  • in line with the implemented Privacy Policy;
  • to the extent and for the purposes necessary to pursue legitimate interests, provided that such processing does not infringe the rights and freedoms of the data subject.

Every data subject for whom we act as the data controller has the right to request access their personal data, its rectification or erasure, the restriction of its processing, to object to its processing, and to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority. Personal data may be erased following the withdrawal of consent or the submission of a legally valid objection to its processing.

The Polish Academy of Sciences may disclose users’ personal data and related information to entities authorized under applicable law (e.g., law-enforcement authorities).

The Polish Academy of Sciences does not disclose personal data to any entities other than those authorized under applicable regulations. The data controller has implemented encryption and access-control mechanisms to minimize the risk and impact of any potential data breach. Personal data is processed exclusively by individuals authorized by the controller or by data processors with whom we maintain close cooperation.

Cookies

  1. The website automatically collects information through the use of cookies. By not changing your browser settings, you consent to their use.
  2. Cookies are small data files—specifically, text files—stored on the user’s end device and intended to facilitate the use of the website. They typically contain the name of the website they originate from, the duration of their storage on the device, and a unique identifier.

You have the right to request access to your personal data from the controller, as well as to have it rectified, updated, or erased, and—in justified cases—to request the restriction of its processing.

In connection with the processing of your personal data by the controller, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (PUODO) if you believe that your data is being processed in violation of the GDPR.

The controller does not transfer personal data to third countries or international organizations.
