About the Journal

“Dissertations for the History of Education” is a peer-reviewed scientific journal, supported and published annually by the Institute for the History of Science, Polish Academy of Sciences. It is one of the oldest national journals devoted to the history of education, upbringing, and the history of Polish and universal educational culture. It has been published since 1958. Its editors-in-chief were Łukasz Kurdybacha (1958–1973) and then Józef Miąso (1973–2009). Since 2009, the journal has been managed by Joanna Schiller-Walicka. The journal consists of three main sections: articles, materials, review articles, and reviews. It also publishes reports from major international and national conferences and sessions on the history of education, as well as letters to the editor and polemics. Only original materials in Polish, English, French, and Russian are published. All published articles are subject to review by independent experts. Their opinions, presented in the review form, combined with the assessment of the entire Editorial Board, determine the decision to publish. The editorial office continuously recruits texts.
