This study provides a comparative analysis of HVAC&R terminology in Italian and Polish, based on a corpus of 12 technical manuals. The research examines 47 key terminological units, highlighting how Italian emphasizes functional distinctions related to environmental comfort (e.g., raffrescamento), whereas Polish employs a more hierarchical structure within the refrigeration domain. The analysis addresses critical challenges in technical translation, including conceptual asymmetries, false friends (e.g., condensatore), and the influence of EU regulations and Anglicisms. The findings underscore the need for a localization approach focused on aligning conceptual systems rather than providing simple lexical equivalents.
